There are 47 countries on the Africa Continent. Including the disputed territory of western sahara. However, the island off the coast are also usually listed as African, bringing the total to 58. The island nations are Cape Verde, Si£o Tome and Principe, Madagascar, the Comoros, the Seychelles and Mauritius.

PRASLIN ISLAND SEYCHELLES
Praslin is an island in the Seychelles, in the Indian Ocean. It’s known for palm-fringed beaches, like Anse Georgette and Anse Lazio, both bordered by large granite boulders. The main beach, Anse Volbert-Côte D’Or, faces the offshore islet Chauve Souris. Praslin’s rugged, jungle-covered interior is home to Praslin National Park, which encompasses Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve.

ZANZIBAR ISLAND TANZANIA
Unguja (also referred to as Zanzibar Island or simply Zanzibar, in Ancient Greek Menuthias, Μενουθιάς – as mentioned in The Periplus of the Erythraean Sea) is the largest and most populated island of the Zanzibar archipelago, in Tanzania.
Unguja is a hilly island, about 85 kilometers (53 miles) long (north-south) and 30 kilometers (19 miles) wide (east-west) at its widest, with an overall area of about 1,666 square kilometers (643 square miles). It is located in the southern half of the Zanzibar Archipelago, in the Indian Ocean, about 59 kilometers (37 mi) south of the second largest island of the archipelago, Pemba. Unguja and mainland Tanzania are separated by the Zanzibar Channel.
Unguja is surrounded by a number of smaller islands and islets, with only two of them, Tumbatu and Uzi, being inhabited. Other minor islands around Unguja include Bawe, Chapwani, Changuu, Chumbe, Kizingo, Kwale, Latham, Mautani, Miwi, Mnemba, Mwana wa Mwana, Nianembe, Popo, Pungume, and Ukanga.

Mauritius (Moris in Créole), formerly the Isle of France and Île Maurice in French, is the main island of the nation of Mauritius. It is located in the southwest of the Indian Ocean, in the heart of the Mascarene Islands, between Réunion to the west and Rodrigues to the east. The population is approximately 1.2 million inhabitants and is divided into several communities. The majority of Mauritians are crossbred with Indian (65.8% ) or Creole or mestizo (27.7%) origins. There is also a minority of mulattoes, “white Mauritius” (2%), and Sino-Mauritians (3%). Muslim Mauritians are either Indian or Arab-Indian origin.
The capital of Mauritius is Port Louis, located in the northwest of the island. Mauritian Creole is spoken on the island, as well as French and English.

REUNION ISLAND
Réunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean, is known for its volcanic, rainforested interior, coral reefs and beaches.
Its most iconic landmark is Piton de la Fournaise, a climbable active volcano standing 2,632m (8,635 ft.). Piton des Neiges, a massive extinct volcano, and Réunion’s 3 calderas (natural amphitheaters formed by collapsed volcanoes), are also climbing destinations.

Very beautiful islands! This is a very informative and a good read. The people of Lamu are so nice and accommodating, I totally enjoyed my 1 week stay there of which was my first time ever. I’ve also published 2 blog posts on the Lamu island. Check it out 🙂
