It’s Taco Tuesday | 15 mouthwatering photos of delicious Tacos

Welcome back to my blog my awesome adventurers. On today’s post, I’ll be posting some mouthwatering photos of delicious tacos.

I have never had tacos before and I hope to do more food culture exploring and eating this year.

A taco is a traditional Mexican dish consisting of a small hand-sized corn or wheat tortilla topped with a filling. The tortilla is then folded around the filling and eaten by hand.

A taco can be made with a variety of fillings, including beef, pork, chicken, seafood, vegetables, and cheese, allowing great versatility and variety. They are often garnished with various condiments, such as salsa, guacamole, or sour cream, and vegetables, such as lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and chiles. Tacos are a common form of antojitos, or Mexican street food, which have spread around the world.

Tacos is considered a finger food which can be contrasted with similar foods such as burrito, which are often much larger and rolled rather than folded, taquitos which are rolled and fried, or chalupas/tostadas, in which the tortilla is fried before filling.

Food |Nigerian pepper soup with boiled unripe plantain/boiled yam

Welcome back to my blog.

In the celebration month of love, i will be sharing with you all one of my favorite Nigerian dish which is pepper soup with boiled unripe plantain or boiled yam.

Nigeria has one of most delicious traditonal food ever and please don’t argue with me . Pepper soup is one of the most traditonal and very medicinal dish and i love it.

Nigerian pepper soup contains medicinal herbs and spice. I love how i feel when i take pepper soup and my stomach does this happy flushing dance. Pepper soup can be made with fish, asorted meat, goat meat and lots of goodies. I actually prefers fish because i think for like 3 years now, I’m starting to love fish more than anything else.

So let’s get this dish on the go.

1 kg assorted meat, fish or sea foods
2 tbsp Pepper soup spice mix
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt start with a teaspoon and adjust to taste
Seasoning I used 2 Nigerian Knorr cubes
Water about 1 litre (4 to 5 cups)
11/2 medium size Onions chopped or sliced
2-3 cloves garlic sliced
Cayenne pepper use according to preference
handful Scent leaves substitute with dried or fresh basil
Pepper soup herbs

Pepper soup herbs & Spices by Nigerianfoodtv

Wash assorted meat/fish/seafood thoroughly to get rid of unwanted bits.

If you are using the lungs and liver, I’ll advise you parboil for about 6 minutes before adding to the rest of the meat or simply cut the meat to cube size to allow easy access when washing to get rid of the clotted blood. Rinse clean and continue with the cooking process.

Place pan containing washed assorted meat on medium heat add, chopped onions, garlic, salt, seasoning, half of the pepper soup spice, add enough water to cover the meat and bring to boil for about 15 minutes Add the remaining pepper soup spice and vegetable oil and reduce the heat. Also, check for salt and seasoning.

Add more water to the broth is needed. After about 10 minutes, add a handful of scent leaves or basil. I used a combination of dried and fresh basil Bring to boil till meat is tender.

If you are using unripe plantain or yam as side, you will boil the yam or plantain after thorough washing by adding it inside the broth so the spice can penetrate inside. If you are using fish, i advice once the fish is perfectly cooked, removed it from the broth so it won’t scatter.

Serve with red oil and dig in..

The Japanese Gyoza Dumplings | Food and Recipe of the day

Gyoza (餃子, gyōza) are dumplings filled with ground meat and vegetables and wrapped in a thin dough. Also known as pot stickers, gyoza originated in China (where they are called jiaozi), but have become a very popular dish in Japan.

gyoza are a borrowed food that the Japanese adapted from the Chinese original, modifying them slightly over the years. And just as with ramen, one of the big differences is that Japanese gyoza tend to be much more garlicky than their Chinese counterparts.* They also tend to have thinner skins and a higher proportion of vegetables to pork.

This Japanese Gyoza Dumplings is traditional, authentic dish. It is Juicy on the inside, a golden brown and crispy base, these are made in a skillet all time favourite Japanese dishes.

    Japanese Gyoza Dumplings 😍

    200g cabbage
    2 garlic cloves
    1 spring onion
    2cm ginger (optional)
    30 gyoza skins
    150g minced pork meat
    1 tsp sesame oil
    1 tsp soy sauce

    dipping sauce:
    2 tbsp soy sauce
    2 tbsp rice vinegar
    1 tsp la-yu chilli oil

    Japanese Dumplings hot pot

    How To Prepare

Begin by boiling a few cabbage leaves in water until they are soft, then drain them well and slice up into small pieces. Finely slice the garlic, the spring onions and the ginger.

Add your sliced vegetables and the minced pork meat to a bowl, then mix well with the sesame oil and the soy sauce. Try to use an equal amount of pork as your combined vegetables. Put to one side for a short while to marinate and allow the flavours to infuse.

Now we can start making the actual gyoza. With a gyoza skin in the palm of one hand, spoon a small amount of the mix into the centre of the skin. No need to overfill here, simply add an amount approximate to a teaspoon’s worth. Dip your finger in some water and moisten the edge of the skin to make it easy to seal.

Fold the filled gyoza skin in half and pinch at the top to seal it. Now start folding over the skin on the side facing you and pleating it together to achieve an effect like a folding fan when it is open. The goal is to achieve a sealed wrap which has the pleated texture on one side, but is flat on the reverse side.
When you have made as many as you need, heat up a little cooking oil in a pan and gently place the gyoza in it with the flat side facing down. Cook on a high heat until the bottom of the gyoza become crispy and golden.

To finish cooking the gyoza, add a small cup of water to the pan so that the gyoza are half submerged. Place a lid on top of the pan and leave the heat on medium-high.

Allow the gyoza to steam until the water has evaporated, then leave them cooking on the bottom a little longer to make sure that they become crispy and delicious.

Serve the gyoza on a plate with the crispy side facing up and use a combination of soy sauce, rice vinegar and La-Yu Chilli Oil to make a dipping sauce. Alternatively, you can skip this and use a ready made gyoza sauce. By Japan centre.
